Do you want to take a bite out of Guy? Now you can, from his meat line that is, and that is why we are presenting the Guy Fieri meat pack of your dreams. Before we share this easy and super yummy recipe, just would like you to know that we very seldom buy prepackaged meats from Costco. The quality can really vary. But this time we both just couldn’t resist trying this Redikulous Rosemary Herb-Pepper Crusted Beef Sirloin Tri Tip Roast with a picture of Food Network celebrity chef Guy Fieri on it.
We blame Guy Fieri’s friendly macho face smiling back at you from the package saying “buy me buy me” for taking him home. From all the different ‘off-tha-hook’ marinated beef choices we decided to try the pre-marinated Rosemary, Herb Pepper Crusted Beef Sirloin Tri Tip. As you know it will save you a lot of time if the meat is already marinated. We love to cook beef sirloin Tri Tip because the next day you can make a few quick delectable meals with it. Corina’s favorite is thinly sliced beef on a warm sandwich roll topped with caramelized onions or a lovely steak salad… well lets not get carried away before we roast our marinated Guy Fieri first!
Costco is selling a “Guy Fieri Marinated Meat Variety Pack” as well for $139.99. It includes 14 pounds of marinated delights including “Bloody Mary Flank Steak” and “Red Rocker Margarita Chicken Breast.” If you decide to use Guy’s marinated beef, just know that all the meat is very well seasoned and we are truly glad that we took a chance with his “marinated delights”.
This is the simplest one pot roast & potato meal you will ever make
And here is the Rosemary Herb Pepper Crusted Beef Sirloin Tri Tip at about 3lbs and has a really generous blend of pepper, rosemary, marjoram, basil, thyme, savory, onion and garlic. This pack is part of Fieri’s new “Guy Fieris [sic] Flavortown Foods” line, which includes “ready-to-cook meats” with “big, bold, ‘off-tha-hook’ flavors.” So let’s get started preparing the Guy Fieri Beef Tri Tip.
To start cooking: Preheat the oven to 350 F. Drizzle about 1 tablespoon olive oil in to the middle of a large roasting pan.
Remove the meat from the package and place it on top of the olive oil and…this piece of meat does looks kind of spooky…is it smilling at us?
Surround the meat loosely with colored potato halves.
No need to add a whole lot of seasoning, only litlle salt & black pepper for the potatoes will do.
You can aslo drizzle 1/4 cup of buttery Chardonnay over the potatoes – we did!!!
With a large serving spoon, stir the potatoes around until covered well wit the pan juices. If you have fresh rosemary you can add a few sprigs for additional herb taste.
Ok Corina, enough photos lets put it into the oven…
Now place it in the 350 F preheated oven for about 50 minutes or until your meat and potatoes look like –
Transfer Guy to a cutting board.
Hey Guy is this ‘off-tha-hook’? It’s got a nice crispy crust..hmmmm…
Cover with foil and let Guy rest for about 10 minutes.
Look all the deliicious pan juice. You can drizzle it over the meat.
We love to use colorful potatoes, becaus it looks prettier and has additional carotenoids and some flavonoids that white potatoes do not have.
With a slotted spoon transper the potatoes to a kitchen towl lined serving bowl. The paper will soak up the excess juice and save you from soggy potatoes.
Zest a lemon over.
Finish with a little sea salt or if you prefer with kosher salt.
To serve it, slice the meat with a sharp knife. Oh Guy you are cooked totally to perfection!
Look these juicy slices, they are delicious just on their own, and after a little debate which included Judit wanting to make a quick wine reduction and Corina wanting to smother it with BBQ sauce, it was decided to keep Guy au naturel. And now is time to open a fruity white wine, like a Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc, both will pair nicely with the herb flavors. You could also pair it with a Syrah to compliment the peppery notes.
Recipe: Beef Tri Tip with Colored Potatoes
1 Rosemary Herb Pepper Crusted Beef Sirloin Tri Tip about 3lbs
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
2 Lb Colorful Potatoes
1/4 cup Chardonnay
Sea Salt & freshly ground Black Pepper to taste
3 Rosemary Sprigs
Zest of 1/2 Lemon
Sea or Kosher Salt
1) Preheat oven to 350F.
2) Drizzle about 1 tablespoon olive oil in to the middle of a large roasting pan
3) Place meat on top of the olive oil
4) Surround the meat loosely with colored potato halves. Pour over potatoes 1/4 cup of Chardonnay and season them with salt & pepper. With a large serving spoon, stir the potatoes around until covered well wit the pan juices.
5) Bake in the oven for about 50 minutes or until the meat is done. Half way through roasting stir one more time the potatoes for a more even browning.
6) Transfer meat to a cutting board, cover and let it rest for 10 minutes.
7) With a slotted spoon transfer the potatoes to a kitchen towel lined serving bowl. Pat potatoes dry and remove the paper.
8) Sprinkle with lemon zest and sea salt.
9) Serve the meat with the pan-juice.
